Render to FLV format?

at the moment, no you can not. you can render it out as a lossless file and convert with Flash.

btw, i wasnt sure on this, so all i did was look on google.

i wish more people were aware of the awesomeness that is the google search:cheesy:

You can't do it in Vegas, but if you don't have Adobe Flash, you can use Vegas to output to an AVI (or whatever, but uncompressed AVI works best), and convert using Super (a GUI for several other free programs).

You can get it here: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

The best part -- it's free! I haven't tried converting to FLV (though it does support that), but exporting to SWF works great!

Hey Tony,,, This super software will convert any avi into a flv or swf file ?

I saw the site and am downloading it. But as a person whos actually used it is it safe. Any bugs or something i shud be wary of ?

Plz let me know.

Thanks

Hi Tony, Thanks for the link to Super. I downloaded it and gave it a try. I couldn't get the exported .flv file to work with any of my applications. I did get the .swf to work, but the quality was a little lacking. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong? I found the quality of files coming out of the standard Flash 8 tools to be much better. Any suggestions on the conversion settings using Super?

Same problem here mark. I tried this thing last night. Wasnt up to the mark. And aint as easy as click a button. Its so simple an interface, but like a combination lock. Look at those options between the three codec option. You could be trying all night with different combos and never get what you need. I experienced just that last night. And only once did i actually get an output file which was lacking in quality. Looked like 256 bit color video.

BTW, I asked this question a few weeks ago...

The easiest and "best" way to do it is just do it through Flash Pro. I'm running an import right now. Unfortunately it is a two step (and time-consuming) process. If anyone from Sony monitors here - HELP US! Please give us a direct .flv render.

Thanks!

Sorry for the slow reply -- forgot I posted this :)

As for the quality, what settings are you using? I had to set the bitrate in the 2,000's or better to get decent quality. File sizes we're too bad, but I suppose it depends on what resolution you're outputting to, and how long your file is.

For flash files, you want to select "swf or flv (flash)" from the first drop down box. The second and third boxes should now only give you one option. The same for the encoder.

Set your output frame size (I used 640x368 for web use), and frame rate (23.98 for me), drag over your file, and hit encode, and you're done.

I haven't tried the FLV files, so they might be worthless. But the SWF works fine for me.

Also, using an uncompressed AVI as the source helps quite a bit for quality.

I have a "teaser trailer" promoting a new website I'm working on that I used as a demo for this process. While the video in question isn't too well done (and is almost black & white, at parts), it at least shows the potential quality. The file size was at 5.39mb, in case it matters.
