Hi guys

While rendering our 5 minute short Vegas took 1.5 to 2 hrs to render , no special effects . I am running with a 3.0 Ghz and 2 g of memory.
I did check for 3D render , that is off , everything is checked for Alpha .
There is approx 80 G on the hard drive. no spyware/viruses .

Is there something I'm missing . Still finding my way around in Vegas .

Thanks guys
Ian

Colour correction? No...except for everything in B/W .
That shouldn't make that much difference , should it?

I think I asked in the other thread, but are you using Magic Bullet? It is notorious for excessively bloating render times.

Sorry for the delay larry .
I was using Magic bullet in some scenes , maybe that is the problem .It seem I have read this about magic bullet in this forum at some time ..forgot about it until now.

Now the fest is over I'll try a test clip without Magic bullet pluggins and see what happens.

Is your project stored on the same drive as your system? If so try it on another drive so it won't share the same hard drive.

Hi smithy ..No it isn't ... I put my Veg file with my captured clips on a second drive .
My brother seems to think it may be my computer and not Vegas .For a fast computer it seems to lag he says ..maybe he is right ..

lmao ..yes yes and yes

Magic Bullet is just really, really slow. 30:1 to ?100:1? would be typical render times without GPU acceleration. (i.e. 1 hour of footage takes 30-100 hours to render).

If you need to do black & white, use the color corrector filter or the channel blend filter.
The color corrector filter will keep the luminance of the values fairly constant.

The channel blend filter can be tweaked to give you different looks for a black and white image... comparable to using color filters for B&W photography. Ask for details if you're interested.

Ian, if you want a diffusion effect that's not quite as slow, try:
Unsharp mask
amount = -0.500
radius = ~0.040
threshold = 0

2- The difference between the black and white filter versus the color corrector:
They use different maths / algorithms. If you want full control over the look of the black and white image, use the channel blend filter.

The black and white filter, color corrector, and HSL adjust filters all have different maths in achieving a black and white look. HSL gives a different look than can't be achieved with channel blend, from what I remember.

I normally get a better ratio than 30:1 with Magic Bullet stuff on a similiar system to Ariel's. I would recommend a firewire or USB 2.0 external hard drive.
