Render Speeds | Graphics Card

I'm currently using an apple 1.8 dual G5 with 3.5GB of ram. I have the ATI 9800 G5 SE 256MB graphics card. I was thinking about upgrading the newest card x800 -- will this help render times ? Id love to hear if anyone else has the newer card for the G5

I have a 7800GT (Pretty hi range now days) and I havnt seen much of an improvment with OpenGL enabled.

Your processor/ram will make the biggest difference in render speed. I come from a 3D background, where when you software render, your graphics card doesn't help out. I've always though this was the same with AE. But, I could be (and probably am) wrong.
