Render short cuts

I notice that pressing the APPLE Key + R will render out any red or orange bars above clips. When I have a green bar that short cut doesn't work...any reason why?

I believe the clip has to be 'selected' first.

No, you need to check under your Sequence menu, under "Render All" and "Render ", make sure all the levels of Render are checked off. By default they are not all checked. If you don't have a specific level of render checked there, no matter what you do, it will not be rendered. Make sure this is the FIRST thing you check!

Actuallly, the Apple + R keyboard shortcut is Render Selected. It will render anything you have highlighted in your Timeline window.

Option + R will render out everything, reguardless of what is or isn't highlighted.
