Render settings for youtube

I'm not a big fan of posting footage on youtube, but I recently shot a speech Bill Clinton gave at my school and was asked by a Clinton support group to post it up for their page. I've tried some compression settings and haven't been happy with anything I've tried. If anyone has any suggestions or settings that have worked well for them (clearest quality and sound) and maybe even some samples of their footage on youtube I'd love to hear em. The footage is standard 60i shot on the DVX

Just export using the 1 mbps PSP fullscreen template under the Sony AVC encoder.
It's 480x272, which is enough for youtube's 320x240 re-encoding.

Here's what I do in my blog.

Shoot on HV20 at 60i (usually in Tv shutter priority mode)
Capture video with Vegas 7 Pro
Edit in a Vegas 30 fps timeline.

Render as a WMV 9 file using the 3 Mbps template.

Upload the WMV to YouTube. A 2-minute video usually ends up around 50MB in size.

The resulting quality is pretty decent for YouTube. I agree that Vimeo offers better visual quality, but YouTube delivers a large audience.

Eugenia, have you ever had any problem with Vimeo displaying your HD videos in an incorrect aspect ratio?

I've uploaded a 16:9 1280x720 HD file, and Vimeo keeps squeezing it into a 4:3 aspect ratio. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...

Here is an excellent article on uploading decent quality to youtube. It's not Vegas specific but should still be of use.
If you want to see something I uploaded using these settings do a search on YouTube for KIMBA'S CAVE

Just checked out Kimba's cave. Holy Batman your a kook, but I like it.

Where's this article you mention, there's no link?
