Render settings for output to a 800x600 projector

Hi Guys,

I mostly render my clips for presentations using projectors. I wanted to know if its best to render the clip to the exact same resolution of the projector or is there better clarity when a 720p video gets fed into even a 800x600 projector. The original footage and source videos on the timeline are all 1080p. So i can render to anywhere downwards. But i just wanted to know if its best and gives maximum clarity if i actually render to the actual native resolution of the projector.

Playback will be from a laptop which is a new full hd capable laptop and handles upto full 1080p.

Thanks

Hi David,

Yes this is exactly what ive noticed over some renders. Some proponents hold that rendering to the exact resolution of the target device yields best results. But ive noticed always that a slightly higher resolution file than the target device's native resolution has better definition on final playback.

Still wanted to get it cleared as these things are very subjective and i thought its my imagination.

By the way does the same thing apply to a 720p projector too. I mean a 1080p render would look better on it than plain 720p ?

Thanks
