Render required for vid sometimes??

Recorded in 24pAdv.

Easy set up in FCP used for 24p Adv w/pulldown removal (for 23.98 timeline).

I am trying to capture Now for about 35 min of footage from my DVX.

If I test capture now with 30 sec or so-
I can drag clip into timeline without rendering.

Everytime I try to capture the tape-
I get a red bar over the video clip and have to render.
Why?

I haven't changed any settings.

the first time I did this- the aud and vid were slightly out of sync- so I plugged the DVX in and re captured.
Now no real sync issues to speak of (maybe slight?)- but vid still needs rendering?? :(

I am at a loss.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Scott

Select cip in the bin and go through all the info (fps, audio settings, etc)
Now display the settings for the sequence and compare everything.

Something is different.

If you're having more than a couple of frames of sync problems (dvx100) then your system may have speed issues. Make sure you have plenty of drive space left.

The clip shows 29.97 rate for my 23.98 timeline.
Why?

I have setup using easy preset with Adv pulldown removal.
If I do a short clip- no rendering.
If I do a long clip immediately afterward without changing anything- the video needs to be rendered. (Not audio).

this doesn't make sense.
In capture settings- the frame rate is set for 29.97 with pulldown removal- which should make it lay out on the 24 fps timeline OK if I understand everything correctly.

Let me pull a short clip again- and reread GNattress column-
there is obviously something I am not getting here.

I have rebooted and now all clips are being captured at 23.98 as expected.

hmmmm. . .

Thanks for help.
