Render Question

On my timeline I can do a render selected events (Iam at wrk so I think thats what its call), But if I add another transition a little later on, I can play the time line at a given point and it will play fine, but at a transistion point it looks as if the aspect changes until I re render it again. Whats up with that?
Also Once I render lets say a 2 min piece and add a transistons to where I left off, do I have to re render the entire timeline again? I know its a stupid question. Iam just trying to figure this thing out.

Re: Render Question

Unfortunately, Vegas doesn't hold its prerenders well -- not as well as, say, Liquid Edition. Pretty much any change will require you to redo most, if not all, of the pre-render -- and that includes trimming the end of one clip, for example . . .

Recall, too, that a pre-render will be close, but not necessarily exactly like, the final render you do.

Re: Render Question

What about the picture changing aspects? Is this just because it needs re rendered. It was all shot 24pa no squeeze.

Re: Render Question

I don't think I've seen that happen -- not sure. Could be that it's simulating the 4:3 (1.33:1) aspect ratio, whereas DV is (and is displayed as, in V5) 1.5:1.

Re: Render Question

DV's only displayed as 1.5:1 if you don't have "simulate device aspect ratio" checked. On my system it shows the preview window and all footage as 655x480, simulating a roughly 4:3 aspect ratio. So Vegas can display it either way: as 4:3 (simulated/scaled), or as 1.5:1 (full pixel resolution).

Re: Render Question

Is that version 4 or 5? V5 displayed it 1.5:1 for me right out of the "box," and assuming JRT hasn't messed with any of that, I'd guess it's showing it that way for him, too.

But I'm just speculating; without actually seeing what it's doing for him, it's hard to know.

Re: Render Question

What happens is ..when you play your time line back and watching the Vegas preview window, it will be a 4x3 TV aspect, and as soon as it reaches a transition point that I dont seem that has been rendered, the aspect changes to a different aspect until you render again. Almost looks like a fisheye effect.
