I just got my new 7d. The files are .mov. When I drop them on my timeline..to render. It will render 38% then the rest is just audio all black video. 4 minute timeline.
vegas pro 9c 64 bit
win7 ultimate 64bit
quad xeon
12gig of ram
any ideas??
O and sometimes i get a memory too low error. But I have plenty of memory left available. 9gig!!!!

Vegas does not work properly when it uses the Quicktime h.264 decoder. Most of us with Canon dSRLs are using Cineform NeoSCENE ($100), or the freeware AVID DNxHD codec to transcode our MOVs into and edit as. Then, it works better.

For now, since you've already have edited, try loading a new vegas window, setup the right project properties, and then copy/paste the old timeline to the new one. Then, export via the new timeline. Sometimes, this fixes project file corruption and the render goes through.

However, if it ALWAYS stops rendering at 38%, then this is a sign that at that exact point, you used a plugin, or a file, or a setting, or something, that Vegas doesn't like. Simply remove/change that event, in that case.

Thanks Eugenia,
Whats weird..is..there is no efects added at all. I finally got a render to go all they way..problem is..now it plays fine till the 38% mark..then goes all gittery like a timelpase. Guess I am going to have to painfully transcode. That sucks. Vegas can really tick me off!

Pasted in a new time..and it worked. Eugenia..your a genious. Here is the vide if our interested:
