Anyone had experience with this? I just got a warning about insufficient disk space, and to use the render manager to free some up...checked the manual and it said a number of file items should appear in the box from which to decide which I can delete. When I opened the render manager window though, no items appeared there. I'm a little nervous about deleting stuff in the middle of a film project...any suggestions? I thought the render manager was supposed to help figure out which files to choose from when you get the warning. Any advice?

Get a new scratch disk.

Generally, thoug - before you do your final "Print to tape" or fileout or whatever, it's a good idea to get rid of all renders and do a fresh render of the whole project.

Besides saving your HD space, it ensures that you don't accumulate bugs in your renders after doing 2nd, 3rd, 101st edit to a scene within a nest within a...

I just switched scratch disks about a week ago and got a Lacie terrabyte HD just to open up space! There's about 600GB still in the scratch disk destination. Are there any settings I should check and/or how to work with render manager (normal that no files appeared in dialog box?)

This can happen when you change scratchdisk and/or update your software. When you changed scratchdisk, did you let the old remain in the systemsettig window, or did you replace the old location with the new?

Thanks again for getting back. After quitting FCP and starting up again, the render warning has dissapeared thankfully. When I first opened FCP, the old HD was automatically mounted to the desktop, and I ejected it during FCP startup. I guess the program was left confused, and so no files appeared in the render warning dialog box...there are files in there now, and the world seems as it should be. Which let's not forget, is also incredible you responded across the ocean! Communication is unbelievable today. Great site! Thank you and have a wonderful day!
