Render Ghosts and errors with FCP 5.1.2

Has anyone experienced this problem. Sometimes I get a rendered file that won't go away. For instance, will change type or remove a track and rerender and the previous render file remains up there on screen. I finally have to trash the render file through the render manager. Haven't had this problem before upgrading.

Also a note and warning if it hasn't been noted before...
I have a MacBook Pro and a G5 dual 2.5 desktop. Upgraded them both to 5.1.2. The intel version of the Universal Binary 5.1.2 contains a considerable number of new features that do NOT show up on the PowerPC. (Glow Filters & Solid Color Matte for instance). Don't ask me why. This causes problems when opening up projects from an intel version on a powerpc version if you have used any of those features ("missing filter warnings").

Not having seen render ghosts until now is frankly quite surprising to hear. I've seen them with FCP for many versions. Doing what you did, using the render manager, is basically the solution you want to use. I don't see them on everytime line or I output, but I certainly do see them from time to time. Its just kind one of the mental checklist notes I have permanently engrained when doing QC of an output.

As for the Intel vs PowerPC, well that's a fun one. Looks like the UB might not be so universal after all.

cheers.

Well I have seen it before, very rarely, but part of me thinks it's because I did a few large nested sequence projects since I upgraded and thoses seem to be more prone to render ghosts...(I'm guessing).

I have Light Rays and Overdrive on my PowerBook G4 with 5.1.2.
Didn't look to see about the matte but theirs all kinds of new things I didn't have in 5.0.4

I have all the new Glow filters and such on my G5. It should show up on any system that also has Motion installed. All the new filters are Motion filters that now are recognizable by FCP. It should give the exact same features on both G5 and Intel Macs.

Ah, we call them 'Render Ghosts.' Yeah, I was having a world of headache with some of these problems a few days ago editing 720p. I finally trashed the Render folder and they went away.
