Render Files/Scratch Discs

How do you guys configure your scratch discs? Do you keep all that stuff on your c drive, relocate it to your media array, or put in a 3rd or 4th location? I've been keeping mine on the c drive, which is a fast drive. Ideally I'd put them on a 3rd drive, but it's a slow usb2 connected external drive. My very fast media array is another option, but I'm thinking it might be best to keep that dedicated to media.

What's working fastest for you guys?

I always configurs premier so all files go to my external firewire. I have had bad luck with usb drives for editing.

C: Drive is normally the System drive and where the Programs/applications launch from.

Do not put media files on it or use it for anything else.

Guys, I'm talking about the scratch discs for render files... Premiere defaults them to the c drive, but you can change that. I have a fast raid array media drive, and I'm tempted to relocate them there, but Id rather kep that array dedicated to project media. So which is the better of 2 evils... keeping the scratch discs on the c drive, relocating them to the media drive, or relocating them to a 3rd drive that's connected via slow usb2?
