Problem Solved... FCP 4.5 HD

I captured my 24PA in 23.98 FPS instead of 29.97FPS !! oops
Common sense would lead you to believe you should capture your 24p footage with the 2:3:3:2 pulldown removal at "23.98fps" (Final Cut Pro HD>audio/video settings>Capture presets)----THIS IS WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! I don't know why the FCP menu allows you to change the FPS but it does.

STUDDERING (barring you didn't pan/ dolly too quickly while shooting etc.), INTERLACING, DROPPED FRAMES, RENDER BAR----- in your footage you probably captured footage at 23.98 FPS and dropped it into your timeline (it doesn't matter what FPS your timeline may be).

IF YOU SHOT 24P ON A DVX100A CAPTURING AT 23.98 FPS WILL ALWAYS DELETE RANDOM FRAMES!!!

RED RENDER BAR
---
If you have a red render bar every time you enter new clips onto the timeline you have probably captured at an FPS that conflicts with your sequence (timeline) setting FPS.

REMEMBER :
capturing at 29.97 FPS+ 2:3:3:2 pulldown = 23.98 FPS

For example, if you want to edit in 23.98 you need to set your sequence at 23.98 FPS

29.97 FPS + 2:3:3:2 pulldown + 23.98 timeline = no rendering
29.97 FPS capture + 29.97 timeline = no rendering
29.97 FPS capture + 23.98 timeline = render
29.97 FPS + 2:3:3:2 pulldown + 29.97 timeline = render

My problem with the render bars did not lead me to believe I had a conflict with the rate of FPS captured. BATCH CAPTURE, it may save your arse!! It did mine.

****(make sure you change SEQUENCE 1 already premade by FCP and apply it under the menu "Sequence" >"Settings" before you enter ANY CLIPS otherwise Sequence 1 will not be changed, only future sequences will see the change----or just change your sequence settings and create a new sequence, bypassing Sequence 1).

Other cues:

IF YOU WANT TO CAPTURE YOUR FOOTAGE READY TO EDIT IN A 23.98P TIMELINE make sure on the CAPTURE SCREEN while capturing it reads "removing advanced pulldown from source media."

ALSO, if you messed up and didn't include the pulldown while capturing you can highlight your clips, go to the "tools" menu > "remove pulldown" at the bottom of the list. This is an easy shortcut but it's easier to just capture correctly to begin with.

::FINAL NOTES::

Most menus allow you to select either 23.98 or 24....23.98 is (obviously) more exact. Especially smart to choose if you're also using 29.97 instead of 30.

CAPTURE 24PA FOOTAGE AT 29.97 (NOT 23.98) WITH PULLDOWN REMOVAL IF YOU WANT TO EDIT ON A 23.98 TIMELINE!!!!!!!!

If you've got render bars of either red or orange every time you enter something on the timeline, you probably screwed up. It happens. I just spend hours upon hours troubleshooting so I thought I'd share what I learned for anyone else that has these problems. Hope this helps.
