Removing minimum letter restriction in search function!

[astigmatic]

Why is there a minimum letter requirement for word searches here? I can't search important topics because of it. For example, ADR, HMI, LED, most tripod model numbers are 3 letters or lower, actually many model numbers for a whole lot of other equipment is 3 or lower eg.. Canon "fd" lenses. The list goes on and on. Anyone have problems finding info because of this search limitation?
