Removing letterboxing in rendering

I would like to know how I can render to a quicktime as a rectangle by removing the letterboxes. You know how the quicktime window conforms to the file I want mine not to be a square 16:9 no black bars.... *rambles on relentlessly*
 
Go to custom, choose a 1.000 pixel aspect ratio, then choose a custom frame size. 16x9 is approximately 640x360 at that aspect ratio. Larger or smaller by proportion.
 
tried it this doesnt work. My quicktime player is still a square I need rectangle people!:)
 
Make sure, in your render box, that "Stretch video to fill output frame size (do not letterbox)" is NOT clicked.
