Removing letterbox? Extending?

Im working in an uncompressed 8bit TL and while most of the footage is full 4:3 top to bottom, now I need to insert some footage captured from a Beta tape that was put on with the letterbox bars, any ideas on how to get rid of the bars and get the full screen 4:3?

Well, from the way it sounds you won't be able to remove the bars from the footage -
So you can either:

1. Find the original Beta footage without bars.
2. Zoom in on the footage and take only the center of the 16x9 frame.
3. Letterbox your entire projects.

I'll have to go with door number 2! Or the client will just have to deal with this part of the footage being the way it is. I was hoping there was actually a solution besides zooming in...thanks.
