Removing Fixed F-stops from Aperture Ring

I read that someone had had the fixed f-stops on the aperture ring of his Zeiss lenses removed, resulting in a nice smooth iris movement like cine lenses. I can't find the post anywhere. Does anyone know if it is possible (and economical) to do this?

Cheers,
Peter

This can definitely be done, but I don't know if it's really a DIY kind of thing. Maybe if you're pretty handy with tools and don't mind the risk of ruining a lens.

This RedUser thread discusses it: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7592

And this company ( http://rplens.com/ ) sells prime lens sets (Nikon, Canon, Zeiss) that have been modified to have the aperture click removed among other niceties to 'cinematize' the lens. Seems great if you have the money to spend (it's still pretty darn cheap when you consider what just one typical PL mount cine-lens will run you).

Cheers! Yes it was the RED forum where I saw it.

Probably a job for an expert but I suppose I could practice on a crappy eBay reject lens.
