Removing a cold sore from a moving head

I've been tasked with editing a short clip. The challenge is that the actor in question has a nasty cold sore on his lip. Of course, he moves his head throughout the clip and his lips move when he speaks, further complicating the matter.

What's the best way to remove this cold sore. I'm thinking:

-motion track the area around the cold sore.
-matte it out and pickwip the matte to the clip.
-photoshop a healthy part of his lip and insert it into the matte.

Could anyone advise as to the exact steps I should take? Is there a better way?

Thanks

Thanks..I totally forgot about the clone stamp...it works perfectly..for one frame....

How can I link the movement to that of his lips?

So I've been able to export the sequence as a JPG sequence and clone stamp the individual frames....there has to be a better way.

Okay, cut me some slack for I am not tutorial master, but I do know how I can help you in the future. I use the clone stamp/tracker all the time in aftereffects to paint out logos, so I can add in other logos. (why nobody ever puts the right logo on the bottle/truck/product is beyond me) If i miss a step or two, feel free to ask,

First, you track the sore, (double click the footage in the timeline, and bring up tracker, if you need help on tracking, google "tracking in aftereffects") I use just a position tracker. I set the small cross hair to where I would like my clone stamp alt click spot (aka clone source).

Then click on the clone stamp, and draw out the sore.

Next, expand the layer all the way (do this by clicking on the turn down arrow) So you can see the tracking data, and all the clone stamp info.

in the clone on the timeline, you will see transform: Clone 1, then under it you will see position. Create an expression on position (alt-shift =) and then pick wip that to the tracker "feature center"
then find, clone source: clone Positon. Create and expression and pick wip that to the tracker attach point.

Now you will have a your alt click and your center point attached, and it will clone away that sore for you.

Like i said if you don't understand ask me to clarify. If you need some screen grabs let me know and I can work up a small tutorial.

In the future you may want to deduct wages from actors that show up on set with friggen herpes. :) Let them know you have to use the" VALTRAX "plugin in Aftereffects. It's very time consuming. And MEDICAL insurance doesn't cover it. LOL You can also pass out dental dams on set. Your doing porn right? HAHAHA

Brooks, I kind of understand what you're saying...I tried to track the motion and pick wip but I just couldn't get the clone to track with the sore...

Maran: heh...no it's not pr0n. Just a head shot of a guy talking to a girl.

HAHA, I understand, I was only kidding. " Valtrax" is a medication that cures Herpes (coldsore) It really isn't a plug-in for AF. I think the language barrier may have killed the joke. Or it just wasn't funny. Take your pic :0
