Remove Camera Noise with Sound Forge 8?

Is it possible to remove camera noise in Sound Forge 8? I know that there is a plug-in for it, but I think it cost like $200! Is there any other way to remove some minimal camera noise? I really need some help!

BTW, The camera I'm using is DVX-100B, and the only reason I'm getting camera noise is because I boosted the mic's sensitivity. (I wanted to pick up some birds singing.)

EQ.

Play the footage, grab one of the middle EQ points, and boost it waaaay up, then slide it left and right until you find the most horrible sounding point, then pull it back to -6 or even -12. Adjust the width so that surrounding audio isn't affected so much.

If it's just hiss, then you can shelf the high frequencies.

The Sony noise reduction plug-in is well worth the cost. It's much better then just EQ - I use it all the time on things from VO, Video, LP transfers, and all kinds of general cleanup. I think the SF9 comes with the noise reduction plug-in, so that might be a better bang for the buck.

I used to think that the Sony Noise Reduction plug-in was, by far, the best sounding of the bunch, until I tried Izotope RX. I now use it for all my audio restoration work. It really is miracle software.

Yep - I have the sony plug already so that's what I'm using. I tried the Izotope demo and it was pretty impressive. In general, to reduce noise you should use noise reduction tools. Using EQ to try to notch-filter or HP / LP the offending frequencies almost always colors the sound in undesireable ways.

I use the sony plugin and it does a very good job. for my last project, it really saved the day. I use it in 2 passes. works great. ill check out the izotope demo.

I will second what John said. This piece of software is nothing short of amazing. It does an incredible job of removing noise and leaving the remaining audio sounding very natural. The Sony NR plugin can't touch Izotope RX. It also has the ability to remove pops and clicks and even repair sections with clipping.
