Remove advanced pulldown makes media offline???

Ok I've been shooting 24p, but now have been using 24pA with Final Cut 5.1.4.
The problem:
I capture with the 29.97 NTSC DV option. Then I select the clip go to TOOLS -> remove advanced pulldown. It does it's thing and then my media goes offline. I try to reconnect and it says something like error, unknown file and won't relink it. I recapture and the same thing happens. I have no idea why this is happening. Some of the footage works fine and some goes offline.

I called apple because I figured they'd have an answer, I was on hold waiting for a specialist to talk to me. And my phone lost its signal. So I call back a different operator answers and he says he can't help me unless I pay 200 bucks. Well I said no thanks.

Anyway, I'm at a loss. I don't know what else to do except reshot (the shots were just inserts), but I don't want this continuing.

Has anyone expericened their media going offline and erroring after the pulldown's removed? (and found a solution)

Why not just check Remove Advanced Pulldown in your capture settings. Typically there's no need to remove after capture if everything is correctly set.

I've seen this happen once on FCP 6. I've run several tests to try and determine what happened, but so far it hasn't repeated itself (knock on wood). Since you're on 5.1.4 then checking Remove Advanced Pulldown should work for you. This option, sadly, seems broken in FCP 6.

Thanks guys, I'll try capturing again with the box checked for Remove Advanced Pulldown in the capture settings and see if it makes a difference. This has happened before but only on random takes. I'll let you know.

Well I recaptured. But this time I did it take by take and only one of the takes went offline. So I adjusted the inpoint and recaptured and it worked normally. So I guess some where in the early take the pulldown got messed up or the tape had a bad spot, but its on my hard drive and working. Excellent.

thanks

I had this happen to me again a couple of days ago with P2 1080 24pA footage. Adjusting the inpoints worked for me as well. That makes me curious....
