Im overseas and want to get access to my computer at home from my computer here. I know with PC's you can do this, but i need to know how to do it with my mac.
any help here?
Thanks!
If you want access to the hard drive you just need to know the IP address and in the Finder go to the Go menu and select connect to server, enter your computer's address, then log on with as a registered user with your password.
By default, i'm pretty sure OS X does not include an X server, though one can be installed. Probably the cleanest solution would be Apple Remote Desktop but it isn't free. On the free side of things, there are different VNC servers at various stages of development for OS X. You can google "VNC for OS X" and try one out, or try This One, it looks promising.
If you don't need a gui, you can enable shell/web/ftp access (or sharing, as Apple calls them) on your Mac or connect using the finder as was previously suggested.
EDIT:
You know, I'm not entirely sure you have to pay for Apple Remote Desktop outside of the corporate environment. You may want to look at that first.
Remote Desktop PWNS. Been using it for 2 years now and i couldnt imagine being without it , especially at the office.
The boss has two macs in his office and ive got 3 in here (the Macbook Pro C2D is my personal one) but i use my Macbook Pro to connect to them all and update them straight from here. Not even using the computer, it supports installs from here without the pkg being on the other macs. Wonderful utility.
