Remote Head from cheap Telescope head

Has anyone ever tried to make a remotehead out of a rather cheap motor controlled head for astronomic telescopes?

I stumbeld over this in ebay and thought it may make a nice low budget remote head. They usualy go for 200-300 euros including a massiv stainless tripod and remote.

I know my telescope is:
1. very loud
2. to slow
3. designed for slow slewing to be smooth, fast is very jerky.

Other than that the controller is ideal as well as the bearings and mount. The motors and gears are probably in need of being frankenstiened to get faster movement.

hmmmm....

it is only motors and how the remote works with them..sounds doable.

I never saw one actualy from near. Can the head be moved for pan and tilts?
I mean is ther enough way 90 deg for tilt and at least 180 for pan. Could it be set up that way you can use it for a camera (probably I need to machine an adapter)

Thanks, Frank

Doesn't seem like such a hot deal when you can get bottom market power heads for 100$ on ebay. We used one for a shoot and it worked fine. Variable speeds with remote control. The construction isn't the most solid thing I've seen but the motion is fluid and it's got to be at least as good as a franesteined telescope.
