Remote follow focus for £150/$300

Reminds me of when Wayne pre-released the user guide for the blade. There were quite a few spelling mistakes/typos, but it was too late to point them out...

We have found quite a few today, it seems that looking at it every day for a month makes you see past the errors.

One of the pages was titled 'Long thow lenses'?!

As an actor I see typos and grammatical errors in almost every script I read. Usually dozens of 'em...

I'd happy to look at the manual for you if you'd like. Just email it to tedspencer dot com.

I'n a gret proafraedar, rilly! Trst mw!

Hey Pete, you've probably thought of this but it might be cool to make a bracket that mounts 2 receivers together (similar to Bartechs) for people who want 2 units (like me lol) one for focus and one for iris/zoom.

Just a thought

And also I own a CP SLD100 motor, in the anticipation that I was getting a Bartech but now that I've found the hocus focus, could I use that motor with your unit?

Many Thanks

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

The Hocus Focus is designed to work with its own motor and will not plug into any third party motor units.

A bracket of some kind for mounting the receivers is possible, but a bit difficult due to the battery plates, as it takes away one of the flat sufaces.

I will work on it, but in the meantime, elastic bands work well. :-D

Thanks,

Pete.

Final price is being set by the distributors. Im not sure what it is yet, but we will find out soon.

Just set up a rig to test the battery life of the new membrane pannels and LEDs. Battery life on the transmitter with one (good quality, I used a duracell) 9v battery is 12 hours.

Pete.

damn distributors! who knows how much extra 'tax' they'll charge on top. why not just sell it yourself through your website? On a build to order basis like the shoot 35 guys. You'll make a killing with all this interest.

Well I would love to do that, but we can only make 50 units at a time, any less and its not really viable. If you think I could get 50 up front deposits, then you can all have a hofo in no time.

The distributors paid up front, so I couldn't really say no...

I hate to ask this then, but are we talking a massive price increase due to distributor costs? Do you have any ball park price in mind?

£200?
£250?
£300??

The prices you quote are obviously not possible for what the Hocus Focus is now. What started as a smal DIY project has turned into a complex and professional product and the price has to reflect this.

The distributors are selling almost exclusively into the rental market. The plan is for myself to setup a system whereby you can buy direct and bypass the distributors.

I have just read through the whole thread... I see why your price has had to increase!
Very impressive bit of kit, alas it will be a while before I can afford one.

I might put a few hire companies around my way onto you and your product, as they might want one or more...
