Remember the MPIC?

Remember that 35mm adapter that Dan Diaconu invented? It was called the MPIC and seemed extremely well designed.

Here are some pics (from Holyzoo's page) of the device...

The thing looks sooooo compact and amazing.

Whatever happened to it? I know the price fluctuated from 1500 to 8000 bucks and then it was abandoned and brought back on then rumours were that another company was going to make them....but does anyone know what ever really happened to it?

Dan's site no longer works and I'm curious.

There are some really great adapters out there now, (I don't even need to mention the names of them) but for my style of shooting (documentary and long take handheld) these adapters just seem to large and so I'm dreaming of the MPIC again....

Anyway, just thought I'd ask.

Yeah, super compact.

That's the only thing stopping me from buying a different adapter right now, the length.

Some one has to know what happened to it....

Dan you still around this board?

Yeah Dan had some interesting designs and cool stuff but seems to have bowed out of the adapter game. I think he made some stuff with the brevis guys or something after.

They say..."The loudest volunteer gets the arrows". Well,... I am licking my wounds, but you got the best of it. You have a wealth of gadgets unheard of in 2004 (at much lower prices) so, what is the "need" of yet another one?
Cinevate sells my gears (others have changed the design here and there and made them available) and was supposed to get the FF to market as well (Dennis, R U sleeping or something?) I hope he'll get the FF to NAB. As for the image converter itself, Brevis is just about as compact as the MPIC (for a lot less) and now comes with a flip and microprocessor CTRL-ed speed, so.. you got what you wished for. :dankk2:

Dan,

good to see you are still around.

Gotta say I was always routing for your design. And still looks to be the best to me.

Best of luck with your latest experiments.
