Releasing Behing-The -Scenes Footage Downside?

Is there any downside to releasing behind-the-scenes or test footage of a feature I'm making in forums like DVXuser, etc. (beside the usual criticism?)
 
There is yin and yang to everything in life. I was never too keen on doing it, but I have been advised by several people that people expect it, especially if you are selling the dvd.

I don't know about any downsides, maybe it would reveal what the true budget is? They might see you were working with nickels and dimes?

Depending on what you show, it may cause people to see the film in a different light?
