Release forms (woo hoo)

At the link above you'll find various release forms for the Assassin's Creed short film contest.

My question is, can I legally use these forms if I were to put my production company's name at the top instead of the IFC? Would it stand up to a distribution deal's nitpicking?

I'm pretty sure I can't but figured wouldn't hurt to ask just incase these are universal type release forms.

My Entertainment lawyer said that they were cool, he also said that I would only need all but the first one listed.......Cool!

you can use other contracts to get a general idea of what kind of agreement you and your acts will come to terms with. you'll soon find that different acts or different talent will need some special attention as to what the fine line negotoiations are or will be... but to be quite honest i would not use a contract word for word. it's unethical... my off-the-record unofficial advise.

Yes I was worried about the 'plagerism' factor but I can't really afford an ET if I were to do micro-budget.

Could I make ammendmants to the documents or can that only be done by an ET? I'm thinking of perhaps becoming a member of an aussie site where you pay to download releases and no doubt would have to ammend bits and pieces so this questions kind of important.

Thanks

as far as the "plagiarism " thing goes, I did a Production Agreement with a Major Recording Artist in which I got the the contract through similar means I made some changes to it myself (points and the price for my track) and that deal ended up being our first Gold Plaque........ I'm still getting royalties on that song today. My 2cents Get it how you got to get it If you can't afford to pay a lawyer $1500.00 to draw you up the same contract who am I to tell you not to use a free one.

P.S. if my lawyer said it was cool I'll run with it He represents BIG names.

We use Mark Litwak's (major entertainment lawyer) stock forms and modify as needed. He sells a cd of over 60 standard forms for under a hundred bucks and it's been invaluable.

or get it cheaper @

they also emailed & shipped incredibly fast - had it in hand in 2 days. Highly recommend.

'nother tip - we print the talent, crew, location, etc forms on different color paper - makes it much easier to keep track of.

Thanks for your comments guys and pixelated, I'm going to pick up that pack, looks like brilliant value.

Cheers
