Release forms and contracts

Hi there,

I am currently doing preproduction for a musicvideo. It is a non profit project, but of course the clip will serve as promotional material for the musician (and hopefully for me too).

It is not my first 'short film', but the other ones I've made so far are either made for work (not public) or not out of postproduction yet (my real first one). With great pleasure I am learning every day, from books (Lloyd Kaufman, Michael Rabiger, Barry Green, etc.), from doing and very much from studying the content of the dvxuser forum (and the material the dvxusers put online).

There is one big question I have right now, and I would not know where to put it on this forum. Because the videoclip will -if all works out well- have its premiere in a real arthouse theatre on a local festival, I post it in this section. (Moderators feel free to move me around...)

The question:
I will make release forms and contracts for the actors and the small crew. (Partly as a exercise for gaining experience on that.) But do I need one for myself and for the musician?
Seems kind of locig to me, but it feels like overdoing at the same time. I have the choice to work under the legal status of a art foundation (Anomie, hence the name- which is kind of my own thing. But it has a chairperson and a 'board' and they're not me. I actually got that thing started for applying for art funds and things like that.) or to do it 'on my own'. The question remains the same in both approaches I think: do I need clearance from myself and the other initiatior/artist?

The musician is a DJ/producer who's into dubstep and electro. He is in a big Dutch contest called The Grand Prize of The Netherlands (but that in Dutch of course :)) and he's all the way up to the finals now. We kind of found each other at our dayjob.

Lot of extra info surrounding the question, but I would not want you all to think that I am either a big time professional of a backyard 'just for fun' filmer. (But definately a beginner I admit.)

Groetje,
Jasper
