Reinforcing Pick 'N' Pluck foam

I usually like to get my foam custom cut, but sometimes there just isn't time.

Does anyone have any tips for reinforcing this kind of foam? Maybe coating the bottom of the foam with some kind of spray adhesive? Or would that just make a mess?

I've taken a 1/4 inch layer of grey foam....the dense type for some camping and yoga mats and glued it 2 the underside using 3M foam adhesive feather spray...once you've plucked out your pattern, you can mask out the holes that go right through and the 3M stops off-gassing fairly quickly and really sticks well....can also be used to either "repair" or modify the protection if you safe the foam you remove....also has the added benefit of allowing you to lift out the top tray as one including what's stored in it to access the lower layer.

Picked up a trick from a friend and have used it a few times in a few situations that needed it: Gaffe Tape.

I've never had any custom foam made for me, but I just designed and ordered a foam insert from mycasebuilder.com, so we will see how well that turns out when it ships at the end of next week. I decided I really needed one for my primes and didn't feel that any of the existing case designs were that great. The Pelican case from B&H and the custom foam from MCB is actually less expensive than the existing cases and EXACTLY what I want.

I've sprayed a few of mine with black Plasti-Dip. It soaks into the foam and makes it a little tougher. Takes a few coats and works ok for the time and expense involved.
