refund policies...

Working on my contract for an editing job and the producers want me to include a refund policy. This is a first for me in a contract so I dont know how to word it properly. I am starting it out with a good faith payment of about 40% and then monthly payments up to a point and then about 30% on delivery. How would you word a refund policy in a way that wouldnt mess me up?

What would they want you to refund? Progress payments are to compensate you for the portion of work that has been performed to date and IMHO you should be entitled to keep them even if the project is cancelled. The only times they should be entitled to a refund is if the payments you have received are an advance on work still to be performed in the future or you have been discharged from the project for cause.

Never ever had any sort of refund policy. Never had anyone ask for it. Why or how or what would they consider refundable?

Talked it over with him and explained how it doesn't make sense. So we are all good thanks. I basically told him that thats the point of paying in increments.
