reflector recommendations

well, if you guys feel so strongly about the 5 in 1 reflector then I'm okay with buying it. JK, yeah that's what I thought, a reflector is a reflector. Not buying the sunbounce will give me some money to buy cheap moles to learn... Thank you all for your recommendation.

Victor,

Had no idea you were a student just starting out. In that case I definitely don't recommend the Cali Sunbounce, & think you money should go elsewhere.

The Sunbounce makes the most sense for professionals who travel often, or have limited space in their vehicles. My lightweight collection of collapsable frames, flags, & bouncers, are great when there are no other options, but tend to stay in the case when there are.

5-in-1 reflectors are versatile, & probably your best investment at this point, but I generally prefer the simple silver/white pop-ups. It's been years since I checked out a 5-in-1, but back then I did not like how the optional skins behaved when wrapped around the core. They were just too loose/floppy for my taste.

I had about a dozen pop-ups of different sizes, & types, in a relatively small softcase that just recently appears to have gone missing, so I'll likely look to replace some of these soon. Though I prefer other options, there are times when pop ups are just the ticket.

I suggest you go to the biggest retailer in town & check out the pop-ups' surfaces in person. Generally I prefer the softest silver side available. Also look at diffusion versions. Gold & Zebra are ones I would skip.

Later look into solid reflectors of some sort. They're easier to lock into position, & won't flop about in the wind.

Best,
Bern
