Reference movies too large?

Recently I've been having issues exporting quicktime reference movies out of FCP. For example, when I try to export a reference of a 5 min NTSC timeline the resulting file is 1.03Gb; the same as a self contained quicktime movie.... Any ideas? I'm stumped. I'm also having some issues with compressor taking much longer than it ever did to export H.264, it took about 45 mins to finish the 5 min movie I spoke of earlier. Normally runs about 20 at the most.

I'm not sure if there's anything I'm over looking, I really don't want to reinstall the whole suite if I don't have to.

I'm using FCP 6.0.6 on a Dual 2.3 Power Mac w/6.Gb RAM

I trashed my prefs using Preference Manager and my exports started behaving as they should. I just wonder what I could have done for that to happen? But hey, atleast its working again. Now I have to figure out whats making compressor take so long....:badputer:

Is the sequence rendered? if not, then FCP renders it and includes the renders in the REF movie. If, however, you render the sequence first, THEN export the REF QT, it will be much smaller, and export faster.
