Reducing traffic noise

Hey guys..

Just shot an interview which I am currently editing but I do have a problem. Half of the interview was shot outdoors and there is some pretty appearant highway noise in the background. It is far away and it's regular but it bleeds over to the interview. The dialouge is very clear but it doesn't mix very well with the much cleaner inside audio.

Is there any way to reduce the highway noise in the background? I think I have a little wild audio to work with but not much and I'm not sure how to use it to remove the noise. I don't really have to kill it completly, just reduce it somewhat to mactch it better...

I'm working with Vegas Video 6.0 and Sound Forge 8.0b

Any help would be great..

thanks..

hey, try a very gentle combination of eq, expansion and a noise reducer. gentle is key, just aim for each pass to take a little of the noise down, and it will be more natural - this is a great approach for stuff that isnt bad as such, but just could be a little better.

which is the sony one you're using? im looking for a good NR system at the moment...
