Reducing loading time when swapping between applications

When you have a big size project opened in Vegas and you switch between applications (like opening your email or suring the web) when you come back to Vegas it takes a few seconds to respond.

I once read a tip to fix this issue but i can´t find it anymore.
Anyone knows what the problem is and how to solve it?

In the preferences box, un-check "Close media files when not the active application."

That should be it.

Edit for clarification:

The idea being if you are working on a project in Vegas, and need to change a title card you made in Photoshop you would bounce on over to PS and Vegas would "close" the media being used so it can be altered/resaved as the same thing so when you switch back to Vegas it grabs the updated file. If you do what I recommend above, you will not be able to alter or save over any files Vegas currently has open in its bins or timelines, but you won't have to wait for Vegas to relink every media file (much like starting the program for the first time). At least this is my understanding.
