I have a few scenes that, unfortunately, are a bit echoey... is there anything in VEGAS that can reduce the background noise or echo while maintaining good audio?
Unfortunately, removing echo/reverb from audio is almost impossible. You can experiement with EQ to slightly improve things, but you're not going to remove it. You have to do the work up front by correct choice of mics, good micing technique, sound blankets, etc, so you don't have problems in post.
I figured that... thanks, just thought I'd give it a shot. The audio isn't that bad, but I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist and it's annoying me that two scenes in particular have an echo.
In cases like that, sometimes it may pay to add a bit of echo to the other scenes to smooth out the transition. Obviously I haven't heard the scenes in question, so this may be a ridiculous question, but it's kind of like adding room tone to cover up background noise... you might find adding a little echo (not objectionable, of course) might smooth out the transition between your "cleaner" scenes and your "echo-ey" scenes...
