I picked up some echo while doing some ADR work. Im looking to reduce the echo using Adobe Premiere Pro 2, or Adobe Audition. Of if there is a better program let me know.
I just tried a search for "reverb OR echo" searching the thread titles and only in audio forum, came up with a few things you will find useful.
long and the short of it is that there are probably a few programs that claim to reduce reverb, but all of them will suck. Its very very difficult to achieve, more difficult than an ADR callback.
It's interesting but this seems to be one of the great un-solvable problems .. I suppose it could be likened to removing motion blur from video-- you can sharpen, which can help slightly, but you certainly can't "filter out" the motion blur. The audio equivalent is probably to EQ spike the top-end of the voices a little, to give it some more 'bite' ... roll off lows as these are probably boomy and muddy. Might help the echo at least a little.. failing that, re-record!
I was playing with the auto gate i think last night and it seems to take some of the echo off a little. If i come up with some outstanding way to do it ill will post up on here my findings.
If you can elegantly break this nut, make it a software plug-in and you'll make enough dough to retire. Tens of thousands face the echo delay problems recording telephone interviews via dial-up and even VOIP (Skype, etc). Digital echo cancellors are out there in hardware solutions but certainly aren't cheap.
