For those of you out there who have put in an order for the Microremote system I just wanted to let you know that they are shipping :) Got mine yesterday and have started some testing. I will be posting more set ups as I begin prepping rigs for my WARFEST Dvxfest submission. We are shooting over the next few weeks and having the remote focus is going to be a big deal for some of the shots I intend to pull off. Here are a few photos from some vertical slider testing today.

Here is the camera mounted on a Kessler Cineslider in a vertical orientation. For the film this same set up will be used on a moving car.

Here is a shot from the front showing the motor and the basesation mounted via a micromount

I had the SmallHD DP4 looping the HDMI signal out to a 24" monitor.
I am really impressed with the handheld remote. Very solid piece of gear...feels like I can "be myself" and bash it against everything within a 5 foot radius and it will keep on working.

So only a couple of hours to play with the system but I am really loving this tool. It is something I have really wanted to add to my arsenal, but could never spend the money to get any of the systems out there.
It is fitting that this was the first set up I tested and posted because of the companies whose gear I am using. Redrock Micro, SmallHD and Kessler Crane. All three of these companies not only produce afordable high quality equipment, but they could care less who I am in the grand scheme of things. If I have a problem or a question...more often than not I am talking via phone or email not to customer support, but to the boss!...or the engineer who designed the damn thing I am having a problem with. These guys really know how to take care of the little guy and just wanted to thank them on a public forum for once :)

I will try to keep posting pictures and info as I get into this unit. Have a crazy schedule for the next month but I will try to keep up if anyone has questions. Also, if you are in the San DIego are afeel free to PM me if you want to get some hands on time with it and Ill see if we can meet up. I was fortunate enough to try play with it at CINEGEAR but I know not everyone could make it.

antuc,

It is very quiet...silent when not moving and super quiet when operating. I am rigging up a handheld set-up to use the fingerwheel and/or wireless with. This is the configuration I will have to shoot with due to close quarters on our first "set". I will put up some photos soon

So I rigged up my handheld set up today. The first shoot we have for my WARFEST film is next weekend and it involves filming in some tight spaces. I went with a hybrid Hurlbut style "man cam" and shouldermount set up. I am running the power out of a small backpack (Osprey Viper 10 MTB pack). Also I mounted my SMALLHD DP6 to the pack so my AC can follow directly behind me in the passageway where some shots take place.

I am using a 3' switronix P-Tap extension out of the battery to get the rig. That cable and the HDMI from the DP4 to the DP6 let me use the camera in low mode, hanheld and pressed into my shoulder...super stable and gives me the freedom I am going to need for this particular shoot.

The beauty of the Microremote is that the fingerwheel is active until the wireless is turned OFF. WHen that happens the motor automatically maps back to the fingerwheel. Then if you turn on the remote it maps back to the wireless and overides the fingerwheel. A lot of flexibility!
