RedRockMicro M2 Adapter

Just curious if any of the guys on the boards have this set up. All of the footage i've seen with a 35mm lens has been amazing. And the price is awsome.

Yep, I've got one, but I've been so busy I haven't really had time to "zero it in." The adjustment learning curve is a bit steep, but once you've got it adjusted (if it needs it -- it may not), but it's great.

Yeah, I'm still tinkering though. Oh the tinkering that must be done...Dave's really right about the learning curve for the adjustments. Lucky for me my dad's a professional photographer and had lots of helpful tips to throw around.

I think this may be compressed a tad, but this is a still from some of the best stuff I've gotten so far.

Anyways, don't expect to pull it out of the box and having it working in five minutes. That's all I have to say.

the M2 is a great adaptor and for the price, can't be beat. The model I was using was an early production model and rough to zero in, however the new model design they have makes this very easy although like Ryan pointed out, it's not out of the box ready which is the case for most professional tools. You'll want an external LCD in order to flip the image but aside from that, I'd put this up against the higher priced adapters any day.

Hey, it's good to see another Utah filmmaker around here.

I have the M2 HD bundle that I use with my HVX200, but I don't think I have it adjusted right. If anyone could point me in the right direction (like an online guide) I would appreciate it. Also, if you really are local, maybe I could buy your expertise with, say... a half a pizza?

if you own the redrock you should have acress to several tutorials on the redrock website that people who don't own a unit don't have acess to. you should email them about it.

talking about learning curve, another thing that helps is if you have experience with still SLR Camers and Lenses. I have no experience and my first two Nikon lenses were for my new M2. With video since you just have to point and shoot and of course pay attention to the focus etc but you still didnt have to deal with DOF but with M2 and SLR lenses you really have to pay attention to everything. Well I guess thats why we got our M2 in the first place right!

There are tons of info both on this site as well as at Redrock site including the wonderful video tutorials.

Cheers,

Yeah I have the M2/HVX set up. I've only had it a couple weeks but I've been pleased with the image I'm able to get. I have the hard mount which makes it easy to align. I received my M2 from Richard Darge, the guy who did the m2 Brevis comparison. He had it already calibrated so that made it easy. So far I only have a 55mm lens so that is kind of restricting. Make sure you get some fast lenses!
I actually shot a short called Life of the Ditchdigger with this set up. You might see it around on this board.
