Redrock Shoulder Mount & Rods works with other 35mm?

I'm thinking of buying the Redrock Micro Shoulder mount with the Redrock 18" carbon support rods to use with my new HPX-170. I haven't decided which adapter I'll buy yet (Either Letus or the new SG Blade) Has anyone used this shoulder mount with Redrock rods for other adapters? Will this work or am I going to create problems for myself if I'm (definitely) not using a Redrock 35mm adapter? Any experiences appreciated!

It shouldn't cause you any problems. Their system is meant to adapt to just about any configuration using 15mm rods spaced at 60mm.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I haven't used one of these yet but is 15" standard because their rod set is 18"? Is that a different measurement reference? Thanks, Will.

The rod length is not really an issue, its the spacing and diameter thats important. All 35mm rigs and all redrock stuff is 15mm at 60mm spacing. There is some stuff that is 15mm at 100mm spacing but this is uauly for high end studio cameras.

If your thinking about getting the SGblade, rod length is not an issue as the new blade comes with extenidble rods. You can screw extensions onto the rods to make them longer, like the zacuto system.

Anyone using the Redrock Shoulder mount with a bare cam? Seems like the LCD would be pressed up to your eyeballs if you weren't using an external monitor with this set up. Just trying to gauge where the shoulder pad / camera mount is roughly.

I put my camera on the RR baseplate, and slide the rails so that there is some space behind the camera. That's where I put the shoulder pad. Otherwise, you are right, the shoulder pad ends up right beneath the camera and you have the LCD a little too close to your face.

Great news, Will - that's what I was hoping then. Just hadn't seen any photos at RR of that setup.
