Redrock releases new ground glass

XY adjust and collimation have been fully integrated into our design for over a year now. It's always been part of our cinema lens mount designs.

Yes and the M2 has by far the worst method of adjustment. You have to disassemble the whole machine, make an arbitrary movement along the motor shaft, and then put it back together to see if that worked, rinse and repeat. The Brevis is a far cry from that and the LEX is actually not that complicated either.

Until red rock takes care of the setup issues, to me it will represent some of the same headaches, that they did before. If I can get good images from another adapter without having to baby it for a week, and at a comperable price point, then why would I give red rock my buisness now after the others heard the crys of the people and began rectifying the issues a while ago.

Like we've been hearing all over the media about one person representing the new and one representing the old. I feel red rock represents the old. These guys started out way before these others and yet I'ts taken them 2 years to start answering the cries of the people. Unacceptable.

Unless the address the hiddious setup times with these outdated adapters, merely changing out the ground glass alone will not justify ones money when letus, and brevis have already addressed these while still allowing out the box and shoot adapters.

The whole goal for indi filmakers is to make films on a budget, so if I half to struggle with an adapter on set, ruining a whole production day and waisting funds in the process, then for me the glass upgrade becomes worthless.

Not having had the same issues as reem (not saying they don't exist, just hasn't been my experience), I ordered the new cinescreen today. Can't wait to get it and do a little before/after test!

Cinescreen 2 vs. Cinescreen 1 TESTS

I recently bought the upgrade for Redrock Micro Mini 35 adapter. The upgrade is a new and improved ground glass which is supposed to have better light transmission and contrast... I shot this test to see if it was worth spending the $150 bucks... here it is!

This test was shot on the Canon XH A1, and using one 1K Red-Head for lighting... personally I think the new cinescreen is not that much better... it's only improvements are in slightly better light transmission. But decide for yourself, you can download the WMV file and watch it on your HDTV to really compare the difference. Let me know what you guys think, and what kind of a test you think I should do next. I'm already thinking of setting up a low light scene that's only lit by candle lights, hopefully in that scenario the new cinescreen will prove it's worth.
