I have to say this piece of kit "rocks" even though it sits on our RED looking pretty as of now. The test of time will reveal any difficulties but it looks pretty solid. The foam it came in is lazer cut and you can take it an put it in the right sized pelican for a nice place to store this bad boy. It's going to get its first run this weekend and then again next week so we will see how it holds up initially. So far, I say thumbs up with this one.:thumbup:
 
Did your have a problem with the Eyebrow? the one i tried out the lock couldnt grip hard enough to hold up the eyebrow. IT literall weighs like 4 Oz... So heavy.
 
Ive got a production mattebox but I had one of the first pre-prod prototypes for a while and they were both the same and gripped pretty tight. Just do the knob up more...
 
So on the first shoot the mattbox did well EXCEPT...
the filter drawer slides in and stops where its supposed to be locked down when there is no filter in it. Put a filter in and the weight makes it drop straight through and fall to the stone surface you are standing on chipping the edge of a borrowed filter costing me $300. :P
I know they are supposed to go through but at least have something to stop it in case it slips out of your hand or at least make it fall through with no filter. It faked me out by sticking without the filter. I thought there was a safety stopper there.
Other than that we shot all hand held doc style with the upper brow on and it held nice and tight. The knurled knobs grip your skin nicely allowing for a tight lock. The swing away is pretty sturdy also and not wobbling around like I thought it might. So far even with the filter mishap I still like this piece.
