Redrock M2 + HVX200 + sigma 15-30, very bad :(

Fisheye on a camcorder bends the light bacause it is too expensive to build that wide of a lens that does not bend the picture.
I get a much wider picture with m2 and 15mm than with that 0.6 that is pretty much useless. I have had it. Actually I have had quite a bunch of century lenses on my previous cams and get the best results with m2 and 15mm.

It's possible to build reasonably priced wide-angle adaptes. VFGadgets produces a very good rectilinear .5x wideangle adapter for camcorders and ENG cameras. On the DVX100 it exhibits some barrel distortion but that could be attributed to the fact that it's magnifiying the pre-existing barrel distortion on the stock lens.

I repositioned the glass and did some testing with nikon 50mm F1.8 @ 1.8

So now every who complained about the apperture can rest assured it is not causing this.

From that I tell that the round lines appear when you use fast shutter, with 1/120 everything looked ok, line were not visble, with 1/250 I was able to detect the lines, 1/500 lines are visible but are not yet that ploblematic if there is not a really solid background in the shot.
When using 1/1000 picture becomes pretty useless because the grain on the disc "freezes" due the shutter speed by that creating the lines witch are very visible.
And you will just enhance the lines by colorcorrecting the picture

If I recall correctly i used 1/500 on that shot but sky haod no clouds so the problem occured.
Wish I had a glass with less grain for this kind of shotiing...

I will post the test shots here when I have the time.

Thanks for the advices everyone :)

Too bad this problem is a feature once again :D

Strange that this problem is not discussed eventhough quite a few have eccoutered it, on some cases by accident though by adjusting the shutter not the apperture on camera.

The reason why I got so frustrared by people saying get a wide is that this is the step-up I want to use and want to make it work. I have tried a **** load of wide lenses and your never get a feeling even close to feeling you get from 35 adapter with 15mm.

Well actually I could if a bought a xdcam with interchanhable lenses and a 200 000$ widezoom lens for it, will some one lend me the money :D

I apologize for trying to help you. I'll be sure to steer clear of you the next time you ask for help.

Don't feel too bad Bob. Contrary to what he's posting about it not being fixable in post, I was able to remove the spinning GG from his clip (even though it was compressed) and offered to help him with shots he needed that were affected. No response and no thanks for trying to help on this end either...

Just got the SGPro all set up...

And holy **** the picture is amazing compared to redrock, edge to edge sharpness, less light loss, finer ground glass (the grain is more homogenic, m2 had some nasty bumbs), more detail on the picture, back focus was correct on Nikon mount, build is more solid, etc...

I Monitored the picture on a 42 full hd plasma display and it still looked great.

only a few things bothered me though, the GG is so grainy that hvx200 has trouble prosessing solid, they might go mushy. I will have to do more testing on that issue.

Only thins I would say is better on the redrock is that you can adjust the rods without allen key. :D

And now I can even see the quality variations on lenses :)

I might still keep my redrock and adjust it for olympus lenses, because a have a selection of those and I like picture quality on them a lot more...
