Were you wide open on the camera and the 35mm lens? Which lens were you using?
I have found that my Encore can shoot in almost any available light (but sometimes with only .5 inches of DOF).

Hey Will, for this low light test I was at f2.8 for both my camera and my 35mm lens; I was using my Canon FD 85mm f1.8 lens.
