Redrock M2 adapter question

My friend has this adapter with canon lenses, but he mentioned something that the picture is up side down when adapter is on??? i guess the viewing system is messed up?? Also he mentioned that I will loose two stops of light.. I guess it is because of the lenses that he has. Also he said it is imposible to handheld it . Is it something about all adapters that you can't really handheld for a good picture?? Will that m2 redrock setup for 1300 include everything I need except lenses and camera??

I just read some stuff about upside down image. I can get the monitor which i can turn and have the good image. How much are those monitors though??

dude, wrong forum. to be brief: monitors are a lot. $700 and upwards for the cheap SD ones. you lose light in the adapter because of how lenses and ground glasses work. the M2 needs a rail system, so handheld is difficult/impossible.

You will lose about 1.5 to 2 stops of light with the M2 because of all of the glass that the image has to travel through. When you add the weight of the rail support system, the adapter and the lens, it can be very awkward for hand held shots, but not hopeless. You can buy one of many shoulder support systems for a couple hundred dollars (the cheapest probably being Cavison 15mm shoulder support plus a pistol grip for about $170 at B&H, both which will mount directly to the Redrock rail system). As far as the indie bundle, it will come with everything you need, minus of course the camera, lenses, and follow focus. hope this helps. A good monitor will cost a pretty penny. Most people would suggest a Marshall Monitor. There are cheaper alternatives though. Varizoom makes a 7" monitor that flips the image both directions for about $500.

There are other adapter alternatives to the M2, including the "Letus flip" which will not invert the image. Unfortunately, it's at the cost of further light loss.

As mentioned above, SD monitors are available for "reasonable" prices, however, for HD the Marshall ($1300) seems to be an HVX user favorite.

As for handheld, it seems fair to say that use of the M2 is a little cumbersome for handheld operation. That being said, I've seen other brands of adapters used handheld which don't require the use of rails.

If you mount your M2/DVX combo to a figrig, it becomes much easier to handhold. (It also helps to have a focus puller, but it's not essential.)

You want to go handheld, go with the Bevis from Cinevate. It has the least light loss of all the 35mm adaptors and is by far the lightest. It also take 30 sec to setup versus a good 1/2 hour with the M2.

Further to SomewhereinLA, I just received my brevis and with skimming over the setup instructions had it going in 10-15 minutes. Now that the initial finetuning is over (I'll do a little more though) it would take maybe 2-3 min to get going. btw the brevis looks sweet.

Mumin, if you have the money look into getting a follow focus.
