Redrock HD VS SD

Hey!
I was looking into buying a redrock for my DVX and got a little confused with the HD VS SD bundles. When my school starts up and we can use their HVXs, I will be attaching the redrock to that.

What would I need to buy in order to use my redrock with both? Just a step-down ring? Or do I need all sorts of HD lenses?

Thanks!
Ana

the difference is the archomats.
If you will be using it with a variety of cameras and some of them being hd i would suggest getting the hd archomat. It works just fine with sd as well.
To use it with an hvx you will need a step down ring.

Great, thanks!

What would be the difference if I were to use an SD archomat? It wouldn't work at all with the HVX or it would just reduce quality or something?

Also, micro sells both HD lenses and SD... how does that factor into everything?

I believe the sd archomat isn't strong enough to resolve the image at hd quality, so yeah, just a bump down in image quality. It might not be a concern if you are just shooting dvcpro 50 on the hvx.

Redrock doesn't sell lenses. You must be confused on that one.

Ahh you're right, it was the "achromatic lens" that they were selling and that had thrown me off.

Thanks for all your help! :)
