Red state...

watching red state as i type with some family, was that thing shot digitally? there's a very very prounounced cmos skew ... i think this is the first time ever i've really spotted cmos skew and it does not look nice...

was this shot cmos or am i tripping/being a geek?

P.S. damn good movie so far.

Farther into it and the skew is almost unforgivable. My uncle, who has no idea about cameras, is calling it cheap and wobbly.

Content is king ok but this skew is noticeable. I didn't say anything I'm quite surprised it's that present...

imdb sez red mx and 7d. Ok. Finally felt the pain of CMOS as a viewer. This didn't happen as much in che... i think the 7d is the culprit. first real world experience on the other end.

Ok it's over. that was awful. I take back what i said about good movie. started nice, but really put away quite quick. who is this kevin smith? never heard of him.

Yeah I really didn't like it. Sorry to sound like I'm bashing... but I mean, the rapture? And just wrap it up in the office like that? No. I didn't dig it. And the skew was unbearable. I have never hearda of kevin smith, I imdb'd him, and the self-distributing thing was a bit off for me, I mean I LOVED jay and silent bob. Chasing amy was good when Iw as kid. But i didn't like this one. No offense, and seriously and sincerely sorry to sound like a douche.

I just hated it. It started at me being so happy I spotted a skew, but it was so obvious after. It started way nicely... I was freaking out when those 3 kids got caught. But then it went to hell... Discuss? Argue? Someone sell me on it? I've had these reactions before to flicks and I can have my mind changed. Totally.

Ok, if I really wanna admit how much of an out-of-the-loop moron I am, I honestly thought kevin smith was the guy from king of queens. Found out it wasn't.

Again, this is a moron (me) talking. But I didn't enjoy that flick.

Bitterly disappointing considering the great hype built up around the movie... still, it was at least better than Cop Out!

I am trying to get my hands on Cop Out... Was there hype? Man I need to move to the states... I'll give it this much, the acting was top notch. But man... who's idea was the 7D? LOCK THEM SHOTS DOWN!!! Somebody tell me the skew bothered them as much as me. It was everywhere

You have to watch that movie with an open mind.

Its like an anti-movie really. No protagonists, no genre etc. No studio backing, no regular distribution. The plot and pace is all over the place. It stops and starts, and changes direction.

The pastor (played by Michael Parks) deserves an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Completely unpredictable. Very tense.

Excellent movie.

I'll give Michael Parks that much. I tried man I'm gonna watch it again in a week, but I don't want to be in 'film as lit' mode watching movies all the time... It really got me into something, then yanked it away, then got me into something, then yanked me away, and not in a good sense... I dunno. Again, purely subjective. But yes, the acting was top notch.

Honestly avoid Cop Out like the plague... freaking awful movie...

I really loved this film. Thought it was one of the best I've seen. Too often films are very predictable. This film allowed for me to really be concerned and engaged.

Nobody was off the table. It was great. I wish more films were less traditional in story telling format.

That said, when people break the traditional jello mold, distributors get squirmy... especially when about religion and government.... hot topics.

ps: Not just me. I have many roommates who are also in the industry and they all loved this film.

We were literally on the edge of our seats shouting out loud. We realized that anything could happen and nobody was safe! It was truly exciting when anything is possible.... that said, we later watched some 'normal' action movie, similar to Die Hard... and it was so much less exciting because the hero who was supposedly in danger, we all knew would not die. We lost that sense of connection, engagement and concern.

I really liked Red State for the fact it was the first movie in a long time where I did connect with a few characters ( one of the kidnapped kids, the older sister, and the ATF agent) and those characters where actually vulnerable. I was on the edge of my seat and I really did fear for the characters knowing they could die.

When I watch other films, say a super hero film, or something like Die Hard.... as much as the hero seems to be in a corner or even if it seems that the villain will win, I always know in the back of my mind that John McClain, Spiderman, 007, etc... will always find a way to turn the odds and win. No matter how many bullets are fired, none will hit McClain mortally.

Knowing this, feeling this, I've lost that true concern for the hero's life... sure I care, but when Spiderman is fighting a bad-guy, I'm not at the edge of my seat thinking he could really lose.

RedState had the perfect balance. I connected with characters, but none were safe. I was on the edge of my seat, and I really did take a pretty wild ride with that film.
