Red Rock Micro device

Red Rock Micro is not a 2/3 inch lens in itself, is it? It's just a device that lets you attach additional lenses and filters. Is that right? If so, what lenses does the Micro accept? Can it attach itself to the new Sony EX?

Thanks

Your right. It allows you to attach various len's ie.. Nikons, Canon and so on. The RR ships with whatever lens mount you requested on ordering. You can buy additional len's mounts also.

I cant see why you couldnt use it with the EX. That would be a great combo- Check out Redrock's site- they have all the hardware to make it work and an in depth explanation of how their product functions.

As long as the Sony EX1 has the zoom/macro focusing ability to focus on and frame the adapter's GG, it should be compatible.

And you are correct, the adapters aren't 2/3 inch lenses. When a camera has the spec of 2/3 inches it's talking about the size of the CCD. The Depth of field ability from camera to camera relies on the medium size... either CMOS, CCD, or film plane. The larger the plane or CCD the more the camera has the potential to manipulate shallow depth of field. I'm pretty sure CMOS follows the same rules.

35mm adapters replicate the film plane size of 35mm which gives that very shallow dof ability. The lenses used are usually 35mm photo or cine.
