RED project and Vegas 9

Hey, I just got vegas 9 and I'm about to edit a music video that was shot on the RED camera. So I know that you can now native edit R3d files in vegas, but can Vegas export a correct format for like sending it to a Colorist and broadcast stations? I'm pretty new to RED work flow and usually they want the project to be edited on FCP or Avid, but right now this is the only thing I can edit the project on.

So, I don't want to find out after I edit the video vegas can't export the right file type.

They are putting trust in me and Vegas because they don't really want it edited on something other than fcp or avid.

anybody help? or give me your two cents on experience with broadcast formats or what formats a colorist is going to want and will vegas support that?

thanks a lot!!

Yes, you can export using Avid's DNxHD codec (after you install it, v2.0 is the latest), so if these guys have that codec installed (it's a free intermediate codec by Avid), they will be able to read the files without major quality loss.

Sam,
Keep us up to date on the workflow. I use Vegas 7 and was thinking about an upgrade both computer and Vegas 9 for a RED workflow.
Good luck and keep us informed.
Thanks

Ask the colorist what he wants in terms of format and codec. It's possible Vegas will already render to it.
