Red Lights Pixilated

Hello all,

I bought a DVX100A and shot a band last night. It was low light and they had blue and red lights on stage. I didn't use any gain because there was sufficient light. It looked ok when shooting, but when I saw it on my TV the red parts on peoples skins were all pixilated, looks terrible. I brought it onto Vegas to try and fix it but it's hard to polish a turd.
Now, does anyone know why this may have happened? Is it just the way red spots appear on DV?
Does anyone know a possible way to fix this?

Thanks, any help or advise would be appreciated

..yeah, welcome to the world of DV.. 4:1:1 doesnt handle bright saturated and contrasty red so well. the chroma sampling gets jacked sometimes.. and yes "jacked" is a highly technical term.. anyway try adding some chroma blur to the red channel or whateva . or if you use a matrox codec you can selectively add chroma smoothing or chroma blending on output. its not that DV just cant shoot red or handle it.. im sure youve seem lots of good stuf with red in it on DV.. its the issue of contrast and how sharp that color is on edge, and also how saturated it is.. oversaturated colors will block or get jaggie edges.. its best to shoot with normal saturation and the boost in post if needed. anyway ..i think ive had one issue .. ever with the DV codec giving me block edges due to the chroma issue... and it was with bright green. but generally you wont have a problem .. unless your doing problamatic stuff.. :)
