Has anybody used the plug in Instant HD with Premiere Pro 1.5 or After Effects to change SD to HD? I was wondering what the results were like.

Im using it all the time........ but not to go to HD. I am using it to resize my cropped 4:3 footage to 16:9 or cropped 16:9 footage to 2:35 and it works very well. I view my final output DVDs on a 42 inch plasma.
I've been trying to find explanations about how these uprezzing programs work. Does anyone know if they're superior to Photoshop's bicubic resizing algorithm? In which case why don't we just use that with a batch of frames?
I'm not saying that this is what Red Giant is doing -- batch scaling using photoshop's bicubic resizing is known as spatial interpolation and treats every frame individually.
A better way is to resolve the motion vectors temporally over some number of frames and apply filters based on the motion analysis. This can result in an image with less motion artifacts and much cleaner.
However there are several ways to accomplish this and not all software developers are created equally and I don't know what methodology Red Giant is using. At NAB I did hear good things about this product...
