Red Dwarf is coming back!

Awesome. This show started the same year I was born, and I didn't get into it until two or three years ago, only started because I couldn't find much to research in 'scifi comedy'. At that point I ran through the whole thing on Netflix pretty fast, it was able to keep me hooked that well. It's a rare quality.

I dunno--I liked the American version of Whose Line. Can't imagine an American Red Dwarf being anything but total fail, though.

This reminds me--I still have seven seasons of Red Dwarf on DVD to save up for...

Yeah, really shocking. Bad script and lack of canned laughter has totally killed it.

Was shot RED with Ultra Primes.

(re: Red Dwarf USA version 1) You know, actually, it's not that bad... I mean, God knows it isn't good, but Jane Leeves actually makes a darn good Holly.

Is there really a version of this out there with Terry "Dax" Farrell as the Cat?

[edit]Apparently, there is... [/edit

Are you saying somebody actually tried this, Max? I never heard of such a thing... and apparently I should be very, very glad... :D

Yes, we were doing it at Universal, yes, Terry Farrell played the Cat, yes, it was unspeakable. Particularly if you were a fan of the original, which I kind of was, having had to sit down and watch a lot of it for reference.

I just can't imagine an US version of RD, its one of those now classical British sci-fi sitcom, it simply can not, and more rightly shouldn't be tampered with.

Imagine trying to make a US version of Faulty Towers, simply wouldn't work.

They did, with Bea Arthur.

It happens both sides of the Atlantic to be fair.

A U.K version of Law and Order was made quite recently, whilst not appaling it had none of the style and pacing of the U.S version.

Fawlty Towers. Anhar, you are too adept a speller.

d'oh! yes your right I missed that on e:D

Yes I totally agree, I think there are probably many more examples,

but the funny thing is, game shows translate and localize well, eg "X has got Talent" and so forth (replace X with local country)

Sports certainly don't translate that well. Just look at how Europe screwed up Football ;)

Back to the original topic, did anybody watch Red Dwarf this weekend? How was it? More importantly, did anybody record it for me?
